Rasool exposed on Piers Morgan

SEEING former Western Cape Premier, and ambassador to the USA, Ebrahim Rasool, prevaricating on Piers Morgan is perhaps one of the more entertaining episodes. In a hard-hitting interview it was clear from the outset the mental gymnastics from a former era, was not going to persuade Morgan, nor his guest Israel-American journalist Emily Schrader.

Piers openly challenged Rasool for invoking the name of Mandela whilst speaking about Hamas, and I would encourage South Africans to remind the world and Mr Rasool, that our nation’s founder was a secularist not a theocrat.

Schrader cited a list of shady associations including Ismail Haniyeh, leading ideologue Yusuf Al-Qaradawi of the Muslim Brotherhood, which should be enough to persuade anyone that Rasool is playing a dangerous shell game when it comes to the peace process, rolling out both War & Peace depending on the audience, and is very much involved in the network surrounding Islamic Jihad, and notions of Taqiyya (lying to defend one’s faith).

Condemning violence but then simultaneously making out a case for ‘by any means necessary’ struggle is perhaps the reason for Schrader labeling Rasool an ‘Islamic supremacist’.

The only wolf-whistle it would seem, is the one emanating from those who knew about Operation Al Asqal before it happened, were intimately involved in strategy and openly canvassing for funds.
